Supernatural 2.10 - Hunted
1. Poor dude. Killed in the first 5 minutes? He never got to meet Jensen and Jared.
2. CONTINUATION OF SCENE.
3. THE SECRET. "I have to save you. If I couldn't, I'd have to kill you." Which I already guessed and knew.
4. Sam getting pissed. Dean getting pissed. Dean begging Sam. Dean touching Sam. I think my brain just melted.
5. Running away? Stealing a car? Breaking in? That's it. SAM IS EVIL. Or stupid.
6. ZOMG!! Sam JUST EXPLODED!! INTO TINY BITS OF... SAMMY.
7. Ooh Ellen! Ooh no Jo! Ooh Ash!
8. I love Ash for drinking Sam's leftover beer.
9. I love Ellen for calling Dean. "Well I say screw that, what else is family for."
10. "You know what, screw you. I'm supposed to be at home addressing invitations, but instead I drove out here to save your weirdo ass." I like this girl.
11. *spies Sam outside the window* "Holy crap!" And uh, by the way, is Jared's hand still injured?
12. "I'm awesome!" Okay, I really like this girl.
13. "Sam, you sly dog."
14. CODEWORD: FUNKY TOWN. ROFL.
15. Watching Dean worrying for Sam, it hurts.
16. Dean so caught Sam surfing internet porn.
17. Sammy=Hitler???
18. Ooh, comparing Dean to John?
19. SAM! DON'T GO IN THERE!
20. Dean thinking Sam was gone. That just hurts so bad.
21. *jumps up and checks up on Sammy* "Son of a bitch!" *squeeflails*
22. See? Sammy being a fine outstanding citizen. Not evil.
23. "Bitch." "Jerk." = I love you long time.
24. So this means Ava will be back?
Wow. I wasn't expecting Kripke to drop the secret on us in the (kinda) start of the episode, and with a continuation of the last episode. I thought that would be rather anti-climax and a very lousy method of storytelling. But it turned out to be an amazing scene. I still think there's still several other more interesting ways to tell that story, but Kripke might have made the right call by going in this direction, given that most fans have already guessed the secret, and there had been so many hints along the way. Dragging it out further is rather unnecessary. Plus, Jared and Jensen totally owned that scene.
The brother-loving in the episode? SO AWESOME.
And I like Ava. I like that she speaks her mind, is all nervous and jumpy at the doctor's, and then is all excited about doing badass stuff with Sam. And she wants Sam to call. And the fact that she isn't simply neglected at the end of the episode means she's coming back, right? My first thought was that she was possessed by a demon, either before or after she left Sam. But then if she was one of the special children, she would most likely to be special, ergo, probably immune to such possessions. But there was sulfur, indicating a demonic presence, so in conclusion, Ava was taken by some demon. Right?
Comparing Sam to Hitler. Is it really gonna be that bad? Sammy doesn't have a single bad bone inside of him. He didn't shoot that Tanner kid back in last episode, he didn't shoot Gordon even though he tried to blow him up. I'm actually very excited for what's coming next. I know it's gonna be so good. Just because it's Kripke, Ackles and Padalecki.
And uh. If Gordon has someone else in the roadhouse, doesn't that mean someone else may be after Sam? But that would be repetitive storyline. No then.
Remember in 'Wendigo', Dean was so insistent on "the family business". Yet now he just wants to dump everything. To protect Sam? Or maybe he's genuinely tired? Maybe both? Note the complete exchanging of roles between the two of them. Sam was the one who wanted normal, who doesn't want to hunt. Now it's Dean seeking some form of normalcy. I kinda want them to take a break, enjoy themselves, do something brotherly, be normal, but then we'll have no show to watch. Bah.
Another thing I noted was what Gordon said, about the difference between Dean and John. Truth is, John cares about his family as much as Dean. He just doesn't show it quite as obviously. His obsession with killing the demon, it's not be just for revenge. We know John knew about Sam turning, so it's far more likely he wants to kill the demon to prevent the war, to prevent Sam turning, to prevent Dean or himself having to kill Sam. When he asks Sam to shoot him back in 'Devil's Trap', he was ultimately saving Sam's life. He did it for his boys. And as we all know, he sacrificed his life for Dean. I didn't like him back in Season 1, thought he didn't care about his sons, but now I know better. *salutes* Now I just want him back.
AND DEAN AND SAM NEED TO HUG. NOW. (Or maybe in the very end, when everything is over and everyone is okay. That would be so poignant. Figure since Kripke made us wait so long for it, it has to be super ultra special. Okay. Don't kill me. *hides*)

Another person on my flist was like - "Why is Dean quitting? Why isn't he doing anything and just wanting to stop hunting?" Here's my theory: As far as the family business, the keyword there is family . Dean hunted because when it came right down to it, it was protecting his family. Sooner or later all those hunts were going to bring them to the demon. Now when Jessica died, hunting became a mission for Sam, like it was for John, but still hunting meant protecting his family for Dean. He was never obsessed with this demon.
Now with John gone and this revelation that Sam might turn evil, Dean needs to come up with a different way to protect his family. Why hunt when his family is gone?
With both the guy from last night and the twin in "Simon Said" neither one of them were evil until the yellow-eyed demon started haunting them. The twin was full on evil, the guy from last night was on the brink. But obviously, the YED can't haunt Sam the same way. So maybe Dean thinks that the more they dive into this hunt for the demon, the more likely Sam will become evil. If the demon can find a way to manipulate Sam, it will, and that will cause him to become evil. Therefore, Dean wants to stop to protect his family. Nothing was ever more important than protecting Sammy. And now that they have no plan of action against the demon because the colt is gone, his next idea is just to lie low.
But that's just me. Sorry to write a novel in your journal. =)

I have to agree. Dean is all about family. Makes sense he would do anything (even stop hunting) to protect them. And Dean is probably right. Continuing to hunt is really bad for Sammy. *crosses fingers and toes*
I guess another reason he wanted Sam to hunt in the first place was to bring the family back together again. If Dean didn't want to hunt, they would all be living separate lives now. That would be so terrible.
Pardon me if I'm not making any sense. It's 5am and I just spent the entire night discussing SPN stuff. Heh. I know. I'm crazy.
